It has been a while since I wrote anything on the ol’ blog, so I figured I would spend a little time doing just that while I have some spare cycles. 2012 was a busy year for me and 2013 promises continued business. There were a couple of not-so-bright spots for me in 2012:
- My stepdad had a stroke early in 2012 (he’s recovering wonderfully, though)
- My car was totalled by a hit-and-run driver in front of my house while I was out of town and never resolved
- Our house was broken into while we were visiting family for Christmas
On the career side, things are as exciting as ever. We had a great year going to various conferences, meetups, and other events to speak about Enyo and get the word out that we are serious when it comes to pushing cross-platform application development with Web technologies. Developer interest increases daily and we have been talking to some big names about various things. It seems there is still great interest in webOS and the Enyo framework. In fact, we have just been acquired by LG. Most of the Open webOS and Enyo teams are LG employees as of March 1, 2013.
In light of the aforementioned robbery, we have finally decided to get serious about moving out of what I refer to as the ghetto-lite. It is a little scary to think about purchasing a new home while another major change is taking place, but it’s getting to the “now or never” point and I don’t feel like spending the rest of my life in this neighborhood.
Initial thoughts are to try and keep our current home as a rental property, but we’ll have to see if that makes good financial sense. I’m also really tempted to move a little further out and get an acre or more to build one instead of moving to another crowded subdivision like we currently have. More scariness!
